Finavia opts for energy efficiency
FKI Logistex has been awarded a €40m contract by Finavia.

The contract is to design and install a new energy-efficient baggage handling system at Helsinki-Vantaa airport’s international terminal. Finavia becomes the first airport operator to commission FKI Logistex’ new LS-4000E tilt-tray sortation system to achieve next-generation efficiencies in space and energy usage.

As part of an extension to the Helsinki-Vantaa International Terminal, FKI Logistex will design and install a state-of-the-art baggage handling system consisting of two energy-efficient LS-4000E sorters, and a 6.6 kilometre CrisBag system for high-speed sort-and-transport between terminals, with 1,500 positions for early baggage storage. FKI Logistex will also supply its leading edge Sort Allocation Computer control system to manage baggage flow and direct baggage to mandatory security controls and the correct departure point.
