Pop-up solution for Tianjin
The Tianjin Airbus joint venture company has ordered a total of 12 Cavotec Fladung Pop-Up Pits to service aircraft at its A320 assembly line at the Chinese port city of Tianjin, which is southwest of Beijing.

Cavotec’s Pop-Up Pits supply aircraft with power, water and pre-conditioned air, eliminating the need for large trucks, heavy diesel generators, cables and hoses that typically cover much of the area around parked aircraft. The units emerge from pits embedded in the tarmac and retract underground when refuelling is completed.

“We are delighted that Tianjin Airbus has selected Cavotec’s Pop-Up Pits for its aircraft supply requirements. Our aim is to be local everywhere, and this project shows how Cavotec can work closely with customers to obtain the best possible results,” commented Kai Fladung, Cavotec Fladung’s Sales Director. The contract follows an initial order for six Pop-Up systems at Tianjin.

(The assembly line is a joint venture between Airbus and Tianjin Zhongtian Aviation Industry Investment Company, a consortium of the China Aviation Corporation and the Tianjin Bonded Zone Investment Company. Airbus holds a 51% stake in the project).
