WFS to benefit in Dallas
FreightScan, a leader in the development and deployment of innovative technology solutions for the freight and logistics industry, has announced it has received a contract to permanently install an FS100 automated system for cargo dimensioning at the Worldwide Flight Services cargo facility at the Dallas Fort Worth airport, following a successful three-month evaluation process.
This permanent installation for Worldwide Flight Services, which handles cargo on behalf of many airline carriers, came as a result of a successful evaluation that began in mid-August at the Texas location. The FS100 enables WFS to identify accurate dim weight of the shipments it handles and creates a visual record that is made available to the air carriers it represents.
“We are very pleased our evaluation process went well for WFS and that we've received a contract for a permanent installation at DFW," commented Randy Richards, Executive Vice President of Sales for FreightScan. "This first installation for WFS provides us the opportunity to work with one of the largest and best cargo handlers in the world, with an outstanding management team. The Dallas Fort Worth facility is very representative of how the FS100 can create value for cargo handlers around the world by providing both accurate chargeable weight and a significant savings in manpower with no disruption to existing workflow.”
“Our team was very impressed with the results of FreightScan’s automated dimensioning system during our evaluation period,” adds Bill Payne, Managing Director for Worldwide Flight Services. “The FS100 is simple to operate, fast and very accurate. At our DFW facility, we opted to install the FS100 system above our 10 x 10 foot floor scale so we could dimension the cargo at the same time we perform the reweigh. One of the most intriguing features of the FS100 system is its ability to dimension multiple pieces of cargo with a single scan. We have captured individual dimensions for up to 11 pieces of cargo in less than ten seconds with this feature. This has proved to be a very efficient process for us and we look forward to achieving excellent operational cost-savings with this installation."
Delivering unprecedented ease of deployment, the FreightScan FS100 system is compact and installs virtually anywhere in a warehouse, 15 feet off the floor, streamlining the dimming process, improving yield and maximising warehouse resources. The system captures accurate dimensions of cargo in seconds, and creates a retrievable data record for each waybill, including dimensions, scan images and digital photos.
