Pushback supplier receives royal acknowledgement
The Queen has conferred a double honour upon Douglas Equipment.

Amongst the market leaders in the manufacture of towing and ground support vehicles for the commercial aviation industry Douglas, on the Prime Minister’s recommendation, was honoured with the prestigious accolade of two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: these pertain to the categories of Innovation and International Trade.

The Innovation Award recognises companies that have demonstrated commercial success through innovative products or services and the Douglas RAM Handler is the product responsible for this recognition. Originally developed for the British Navy and subsequently marketed to world navies, the RAM is an ultra-low profile, electrically-powered aircraft deck handling device. It provides a rapid and technically innovative method of moving aircraft on board ship that is proven to improve safety and efficiency. Vitally, it reduces aircraft acquisition to just 15 seconds, compared with traditional embedded systems which take up to seven minutes.

Commercial success created by design and development of the RAM has underpinned financial growth for Douglas Equipment, seeing the company’s turnover double in the last five years. This sales growth has funded workforce expansion and specialist skills development as part of R&D re-investment of profits.
